VEHICLE TRACKING SYSTEM AND IOT

What is IoT?

Simply put, the concept of connecting the Internet to any device which has an on and off switch is bound to be as Internet of Things, a.k.a IoT. The IoT is a huge grid bridging between people and connecting things. These things keep a track on the data in and around them (usage, environment, etc). Collecting and sharing this data to improve the efficiency of a respective product and eventually making life easy.

Things/Objects/Devices of all shapes and sizes includes the extraordinary range of products functioning under the concept of IoT. A smart washing machine which washes clothes in the most efficient way possible (with minimal water, detergent, etc.) to autonomous vehicles, which uses its complex sensors to identify objects in their path, to fitness trackers that keeps a count of the heart rate, distance covered by foot, calories burnt, etc and recommend dietary, exercise plans which suits your body.

The concept of IoT in sports is also prominent and growing everyday. To keep a track on the athlete’s performance, GPS induced equipments are used to record the stats to analyse and improve their performance. Fundamentally, in this day and age the concept of IoT is almost everywhere around us to make our lives efficient.

So, how does it work?

Objects and devices with sensors built in them connect to an Internet of Things platform, which from different devices merges data and applies analytics to designate the most productive info, with applications assemble to label specific needs.

The IoT platforms are powerful enough to point out to the specific info which is useful and which is not. This info helps detect patterns from which we can predict possible problems and make recommendations to solve those problems.

It’s Here

IoT has been around for a while now, and it will continue to impact our lives (hopefully for the good). For all those businesses existing already as well as the ones upcoming, this is a basic platform about which one has to be aware of.
